This mythological film is based on the Mahabharata. It depicts the tale of how Savitri (Gohar) saves her husband Satyavan (Bhagwandas) from the clutches of Yama, the god of death.

Vijay, a windmill Engineer goes to Australia for work from India. He falls in love with Emily who he later finds is being searched by local police as a missing person. Vijay also becomes a suspect in a murder case. The movie ends with several twists and turns.

The love story from the 'Mahabharata'. Savitri, a heroine born through divine benediction to Ashwapati, marries Satyavan, the son of an exiled and blinded hermit, although he is scheduled to die soon.

Savitri is a girl who is fascinated with wedding ceremonies. When she gets engaged, she travels to Shirdi and in the train she meets a doctor Rishi, who falls in love with her. Meanwhile, his parents arrange a marriage for him but he rejects the girl without meeting her. The twist is that the alliance is with none other than Savitri. What happens next forms the rest of the story.

Although Satyavan is scheduled to die soon, Savitri marries him and eventually propitiates Yama, the god of death, to return Satyavan's life and to restore her father-in-law's sight.
